More About Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council

*Educational specialists from GPLC design the instruction to focus on the students' needs. Over 500 trained volunteer tutors provide one-to-one tutoring or group instruction in basic skills, GED preparation, and English as a second language. The staff's expertise in partnership with the tutors' devotion to the attainment of students' goals plays a major role in the overall success of the student.

*All one-to-one tutoring, ESL, citizenship preparation classes, and group instruction are held at public locations such as local libraries and schools. GPLC area coordinators work with the tutors and students to facilitate these meetings.

*There are a number of convenient neighborhood sites located in the following areas in Allegheny County: East End, East Suburbs, Homewood/Brushton, McKeesport, North Hills, South Hills, South Pittsburgh, West End, and Wilkinsburg. GPLC also has a computer center located at 414 Wood Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.
